The agony column brings many cries for help from people who are worried about aspects of cross-dressing, transsexualism and gender dysphoria - Helen has been a transgender agony specialist for the Beaumont Society and is their executive secretary and now she's supporting t-zone too :)

Some common problems follow....

Q. I think that I look convincing when cross-dressed as a woman. However, if I go out in public am I doing anything illegal?

A. In a word, no. Nevertheless, there are dangers and pitfalls of which you should be aware before you venture too far. For example, bear in mind that despite your confidence you may still be ‘read’. If this happens it is unlikely that you will experience more than passing interest, or perhaps, at worst a mild insult. ‘Tranny!’ for instance.

In addition, if you are appropriately dressed for your age and surroundings, most people would be too wrapped up in their own business to bother you.

Problems can occur when you encounter the wayward yob, who will go out of his way to let you and anyone else nearby know that he has ‘read’ you. Finally, it is possible for a situation to attract the involvement of the police. Using a ladies toilet and being ‘read’ is a prime example. So, however convincing you think you are, always use caution and common sense and be careful.

If you need support on any subject - then feel free to post a message in the Agony Forum and we will do our best to guide you.
