Authors' conclusions
Vaginoplasty is one of a number of approaches to management of gender dysphoria in male to female transsexuals. There is no single model of treatment of transsexualism. An effective model of treatment will utilize hormone therapy and surgical reconstruction, and also include counselling, psychotherapeutic approaches, electrolysis and speech therapy. Reviews of results give strong evidence of the effectiveness of reassignment surgery.
